Accessibility refers to places being easily reached by those with a disability, whether that is a physical disability or developmental disability. Many hotels, cruises, and travel accommodations require booking in a specific way to make sure people with disabilities are accommodated. We understand that some disabilities make it harder to communicate, so we do our best to communicate in a way that works best for you, as well as let you know what to expect at your travel destination. Whether someone needs an accessible room due to mobility aids, information on how to bring their service dog, or quiet spaces to allow them to unwind from overstimulation, we are well-versed in what is offered and will make sure your needs are met.
Traveling Mindfully:
While there are many places where tourism is boosting their economy, we believe that wherever we travel, we should do it mindfully. That means supporting locals while we are visiting, including listening to locals when they are pushing back on their government for using taxpayer money only on things the general population does not agree with, instead of spending the money to support locals. Traveling mindfully also means supporting locally-owned businesses and not outside companies that set up stores to drive customers away from local stores. We also stand for making a positive impact where we visit, which can be as easy as not littering or something that requires more work, like voluntourism.
LGBTQIA+:
People should be able to travel safely, no matter their sexuality or gender identity. We work with The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) to stay up-to-date with the places that are safe for LGBTQIA+ individuals to travel. Having transgender and gay individuals working at Tropical Sunset Travel, we are well-versed in the specific concerns LGBTQIA+ individuals tend to have when traveling. We advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights in the travel industry because we believe that who you love and what gender you are should not diminish your quality of vacations.
Religious Differences:
We believe in freedom of religion and that nobody should be discriminated against because of their religion. Some religions have dietary restrictions, wear head coverings, or are unable to visit specific places like other houses of religion. We support our clients by learning what their needs are with open-mindedness. Unfortunately, there are places in the world where certain religions are not accepted. We work hard to learn where it is safe for our clients to travel, as well as how we can best advocate for those who are oppressed due to their religious beliefs.
Racial Diversity:
Racial diversity refers to the representation of different races within a group or population. Some places have very little racial diversity while other places have a very diverse population. We believe that your race and ethnicity should not reduce your quality of vacations and travel experiences. We stand for racial equality, or the belief that everyone should be treated equally, no matter their race or ethnicity. We educate ourselves on issues people of color face when they travel to plan vacations where people are safe and treated with respect.
